From the cartoon
series MONOLITH |
Monolith:
This isn't your grandpa's superman. Sure this is another story of
Super heroes and super villains but readers are finding these
specific heroes aren't all that much different from
the evil doers they are fighting. Set in the city of Monolith. A city of cities.
"Imagine if New York City
stopped aging in the 30's, but it's 100 years in the
future and the city itself is the size of New York
State" Says Monolith Creator Clint Vander
Klok. "If
you can imagine that, then you have a feel for Monolith.
That sort of 30's Pre War excitement. A time when
seeing an automobile was still a rush. For me that's
the perfect backdrop for this story. The city itself
is a character in the story" Clint goes
on to describe his vision and some of his creative
process. "When I was
younger I was fascinated
with
Comic books. And at the time the mainstream pop
comics were going in a whole new direction. They
were slowly getting darker, Stuff like
The Crow
and Frank Millers The Dark Knight
Returns was coming out
and I really started to get excited about things. I
read a book by Brett Eston Ellis called
American Psycho,
that and The Zodiac Killer
by Robert Graysmith motivated me to create what
would later become Monolith." An
